Similar to Steelix (Healix), this deck is a tank and heal deck. Hippowdon's wide array of attacks, Poké-Body and Poké-Power give this deck far more options than most other tanking decks. "Save Sand", its primary attack, allows you to build up Energy via the discard pile and for more damage. "Groundquake" is a great option against basic-heavy decks, namely SP variants. And its huge Poké-Power "Save Sand" can be turn the tides by resetting your opponent's board of Energy, Tools and Stadiums! Take hits like the beast Hippowdon is, heal damage, and strike back with bulky attacks.
"My list was adapted from @2010Decklists's, but rather utilizes Felicity's Drawing over Judge. Felicity's discard effect pairs well with Hippowdon's "Save Sand" attack to quickly ramp up your damage output and attached Energy count. Judge is a great card against Gyarados and SP decks, however I've found that the SP matchup is fine without Judge. (And with or without Judge, this deck honestly doesn't handle Gyarados well either way.) Regirock is more of an optional tech that I opted out in place of more consistency in a fourth Felicity. I found Regirock often unused due to Power Spray and Psychic Lock, and other times a liablity if ever trapped with Bright Look."

This is Azul's revised version of his 1st Place Regionals list. The list he used to win the event was 3 cards different, as follows:
-2 Time-Space Distortion +2 Pokémon Rescue
-1 Mamoswine +1 Shuppet
"This is my revised build for the deck, as I couldn't afford Time-Space Distortions at the time, and I hadn't yet discovered the "technology" (Mamoswine)." ~ Azul
