• The 2021 Players Cup Invitational tournament was the finale, and 25th Pokémon Anniversary celebration, to the Players Cup series that took place from 2020-2021 during covid. It was an online event that was played using PTCGO. The four previous Players Cup Champions, and four past World Champions, were invited to play in this exclusive event.

• The 8 invitees competed in a double elimination bracket, where the eventual Champion squared off in a final "Boss Battle" against the 2004 Pokémon World Champion, Tsuguyoshi Yamato.
