Aug 18 - 20, 2006
Anaheim, California
• The 2006 Pokémon World Championships took place in Anaheim for the first time and was the third Worlds officially hosted by Pokémon. It was a two-day event in which Saturday consisted of 8 Rounds, followed by a single-elimination Top Cut of 32 on Sunday. 58 Masters were invited to this year's Worlds, plus 8 players earned their way into the event via the Last Chance Qualifier.
• This was the final year of premier events before divisions were reworked and named what we're familiar with today, "Juniors, Seniors, & Masters."
~ Players with the highest "ELO" Premier Rating by the end of the season earned an invitation to Worlds, pictured below.
~ Additionally, players that placed Top 'X' at their countries' National Championship, (varied by country), earned an Invitation to Worlds. (ex. Top 4 players at NA Nats, Top 3 players at Canada's Nats, only the Winner of UK Nats)
