2011 World Championships

• The 2011 Pokémon World Championships took place in San Diego for the third and final time. It was a two-day event, 3 counting the LCQ. The main event consisted of 7 Rounds, followed by a Top Cut of 16 on Sunday. 122 players competed in the main event.
• Like the Worlds before it, this year included a Last Chance Qualifier. LCQ competitors played 6 rounds on Friday, of which only players with an undefeated record of 6-0 earned a Last Chance Invite.
• On July 1st of 2011, for the first time in TCG history, Play! Pokémon announced an emergency mid-season rotation due to Sableye Donk, making this Worlds the first ever to use a newly "modified" format. (7 sets were cut from format, the largest rotation ever at the time!)
Invite Threshold
~ Players with the highest "ELO" Premier Rating by the end of the season earned an invitation to Worlds.
~ Players that placed Top 'X' at their countries' National Championship, (varied by country), earned an Invitation to Worlds.
~ Players that went undefeated in the LCQ earned an automatic Invitation to Worlds.
