69-425 Waikōloa Beach Dr• The 2012 Pokémon World Championships took place in Hawaii for the third and final time. It was a two-day event, 3 counting the LCQ. The main event consisted of 7 Rounds, followed by a Top Cut of 16 on Sunday. 127 players competed in the main event.
• Like the Worlds before it, this year included a Last Chance Qualifier. LCQ competitors played 6 rounds on Friday, of which only players with an undefeated record of 6-0 earned a Last Chance Invite.
• This was the first season to incorporate Championships Points, a far superior system than ELO Premier Rankings. (Players were no longer pressured to drop mid-event just to keep their "ELO" high enough to earn an invite.)
~ Players with a certain amount of Championship Points were invited to Worlds.
~ Players that placed Top 'X' at their countries' National Championship, (varied by country), earned an Invitation to Worlds.
~ Players that went undefeated in the LCQ earned an automatic Invitation to Worlds.
~ Prized out as scholarships.
